Gary D. Heitman

PE, Associate

Gary is one of ABMB’s most experienced engineers, specializing in highway design, plan development, and conceptual alternative studies. He previously spent 12 years with the LADOTD in their highway department, joined ABMB as the Highway Division Manager in 1999, and was named an associate in the firm in 2007.

Gary has played the lead role in several of ABMB’s largest endeavors, including the ambitious design of the Picardy Avenue at I-10 Interchange and its elaborate frontage road and slip ramp system, the largest project undertaken by the City of Baton Rouge to date, and the Baton Rouge Loop feasibility study and environmental investigation for which he managed roadway elements such as alternatives and cost estimates. He is also managing design for one of LADOTD’s first Design-Build projects: a four-mile widening of I-12 in Livingston Parish, which also includes the widening and rehab of three bridges.

Gary is also actively involved in the Knights of Columbus and St. Aloysius Church.
